One Murid of Sheykh Maulana Nazim Responds to S. Hisham Kabbani

April 25, 2010  |  Thoughts  |  4 Comments

One murid of Sheykh Maulana Nazim writes a refutation of Hisham Kabbani’s words

You can find the full refutation here:

http://defendingthetruth.wordpress.com/

If you are truly an Aalim, kindly respond to the following refutations. Since you like Arabic so much, let me borrow a phrase from Imam al-Ghazali and call this the Tahafut al-Kabbani.

(1) You said in your talk: “That’s why it is very important to know that a representative always has to keep the highest respect for his Sheykh to give a good reputation for his Sheykh through his actions. Not to give a bad reputation for his Sheykh through his bad actions!”

O Hisham Kabbani! Do you have a memory? Do you have a sense of history? Wallahi, there is not a single man who walks and breathes on the face of this earth who has done more damage, more disgrace, and more shamefulness to the name of Sultan al-Awliya than you. No Naqshbandi Haqqani can walk into any masjid in America because of you. No Naqshbandi Haqqani can show their face at ISNA Conference because of you. You are meeting with the biggest Sheytans, Dick Cheney and George Bush. Okay, even if you are saying that you have to meet them, you did not refute them! You did not rebuke them for killing Muslims in Afghanistan! You did not rebuke them for killing Muslims in Iraq! You just smile and take Happy Ramadan pictures with them. Now, in the U.K., you are making the Sufi Muslim Council which is stepping on the toes of the work that Muslims have done for decades in that country. In the Arab countries, people are taking you for a joke.

Attacks from Michigan against Sheykh Abdul Kerim & Osmanli Dergah

April 16, 2010  |  Thoughts  |  166 Comments

Recently there have been some videos posted attacking Sheykh Abdul Kerim openly and the Osmanli Dergah from Michigan. They are claiming that Sheykh Abdul Kerim is opening a dergah in Cyprus next to Maulana and that this is an act of craziness.

What is craziness is to think that Sheykh Abdul Kerim Effendi would or could do anything (especially in Lefke) without Sheykh Maulana Nazim’s explicit order and direction. Maulana specifically wanted a Dergah to be opened and run according to Ottoman/Osmanli ways in Cyprus.

This is what he ordered Sheykh Abdul Kerim to do, and that is what he is doing.

This is a continuation of his 2008 message where Maulana ordered Sheykh Abdul Kerim to work in Maulana’s area. Available on video here.

They say Seyh Effendi isn’t praying at that dergah, but goes elsewhere. Of course he goes elsewhere.

People who have never been to Cyprus are being taken for fools. The dergah next to Maulana’s house is not visited by Maulana himself. In fact, countless times Maulana was the one praying in these masjids with Sheykh Abdul Kerim right next to him.

When was the last Jummah Khutba you heard from Sh Maulana?

Want some pictures of ‘not praying at the Dergah’?

Now we know Maulana doesn’t come pray very often to the Dergah next to his own house, but Maulana visited the Osmanli Dergah in Lefke to open it himself.

Wouldn’t it be real craziness to think that Maulana would visit a place like this when it is against his wishes?

One can see Maulana openly praying in the dergah, blessing it.

See the pictures yourself.

Or do you think that Awliya are just tricking you (Hasha Astahgfirulllah)? This is a clear message that the dergah is opened by Sheykh Maulana. Then they are second guessing Sheykh Maulana by saying he is being ‘patient’ with people who are doing work all around him. This is a sign of a deep disease. In this pseudo reality world these people create, what Maulana does is actually the opposite of what he really wants. For them, he doesn’t really want a Dergah, he just opens it up for some twisted game!

It is said on this site: “THE PRESIDENT OF CYPRUS IS THERE, AND THEY HAVE HIJACKED AND PREVENTED SUFILIVE TO BROADCAST THAT IMPORTANT EVENT AND THEY CANNOT SAY IT IS PRIVATE AS THEY WERE BCASTING IT THEMSELVES. ”

These people are upset that the President of Cyprus came and they were not able to broadcast. Like their past history, it is clear they are quiet until it becomes an issue of politics and gain. Could it be Maulana wants a direct feed of his sohbets unassociated with contrary messages?

What has Maulana said about Khalifa, about Democracy openly?

On top of that, all Islamic countries are now making advertisements for democracy, not theocracy, which would be following the Sharia. No! They want democracy, because the Europeans want it, they would never want a theocracy. And now our people are trying to copy this. Also in the private lives of people they want to copy the western people. It makes them proud to be like the western people.

What are these people saying about the same? They make Sahabis into political parties and shariat into democracy. What is real craziness is how these people reconcile these obvious conflicts in their minds.

InshaAllah this Osmanli Dergah will be a big success because of Sh Maulana’s blessing and permission.

Many people will be assisting in this effort, including Cafer Iskenderoglu.

They are complaining about Sheykh Abdul Kerim by calling him crazy, and by doing so they have fulfilled the hadith: Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: “Engage in the Dhikr of Allah in such abundance that people comment that ‘you are insane’.” (Ahmed, Abu Ya’la, Ibn Habbaan)

‘Among the Righteous:’ Arabs Saving Jews in the Holocaust | The Middle East Channel

‘Among the Righteous:’ Arabs Saving Jews in the Holocaust | The Middle East Channel

“Among the Righteous: Lost Stories from the Holocaust in Arab lands,” is a new documentary I made in partnership with MacNeil-Lehrer Productions, airing tonight on PBS. It retells largely forgotten stories from World War II in North Africa of Arabs who saved their Jewish neighbors from the Holocaust — a story which Holocaust historiography has largely left untouched. The documentary digs into history to uncover not only cases of Jewish persecution in North Africa similar to the Jewish experience in Europe, but also stories of the “righteous” Arabs that protected Jews. Filmed in eight different countries stretching from Morocco to Israel, the documentary reveals surprising discoveries about the past that can help challenge how Arabs and Jews alike view this part of Holocaust history.

The documentary airs tonight on PBS at 10 p.m. eastern time.

Suburban Capitalist Islam – Comedians

February 23, 2010  |  Thoughts  |  3 Comments

Comedy clubs.. another entertainment refuge for the suburban capitalist regular old American… “American Islam” hasn’t left those alone, entering these same bars and clubs, playing off their Muslim identity. Once a realm for drinks and smoke, subtract the drinks and its ok. Comedians such as these are the opening acts for large conferences (the crowd in one of the videos is huge), or the Muslim boy bands that have been identified earlier.

I said in the earlier posts “The situation with Muslims today is that the West defines principles (inputs), and we get a culture out of it (western culture), and then Muslims attempt to filter the result through ‘Islam’.” Comedians are a great place to see that filter get abandoned. Stand up is all about breaking taboos, and Islam does have a component which enforces taboos in order to foster a concept of the sacred and profane.

Interestingly enough in Islamic history, while there are recorded stories of saintly people which had an amusing twist (Nasruddin Hoja), there was never a concept of a court jester whose aim was to amuse people for the sake of their amusement, break taboos for the sake of breaking them, all while pocketing a pretty penny.

So as you watch/listen to these comedians, reflect on the fact prayer is used as an tool of entertainment. Look at the shots of the hijab laden crowd, and the western suit wearing comic. Examine how American values regarding dating and picking up girls have been incorporated and become part of ‘the act’ received by mainstream American Muslims. Reflect on the very history of comedians.

So here we have it. Laugh up. Or cry?

Suburban Capitalist Islam – Muppets & Children Shows

February 17, 2010  |  Thoughts  |  No Comments

I said here:
“The principles of Islam, when applied in a thorough fashion, led people to a thriving, principally independent, culture from the west. We see in history, when Islam was applied and Islamic societies emerged, that Islamic art was not just ghetto art used now for Arabic calligraphy. Islamic music was not harmonizing boy-bands singing about the Prophet (S). Islamic family lifestyle was not the American dream. Islamic governance was not democracy. Muslim children weren’t raised with a Muslim muppet on TV.

Then I saw a new muppet kids show…

Examine the character, the personae, the behavior towards sacred words and concepts and draw your own conclusions. Consider the change of secular American children’s programming over the past 30 years (and the rise of ADD). Adam’s baby toilet humor, potentially obscene for its time, is starting to look old fashioned and nostalgic.
