I think this is an excellent clip, I hope you do too.
A little bit of clipping when the volume got too loud, I’m learning on how to record better every week inshahallah, with mistakes comes improvement. (No Reverb Effect)
Sheykh Effendi bringing home the … lamb ![]()

I’ve been setting up an RSS reader, which is unique in a few ways. Much kudo’s to Usman for cluing me in on the benefits of a web based RSS reader. Gregarius is the one I chose to install, and essentially it allows me to have my news feeds centralized in an area on my own personal website. This means no matter where I go, or whose computer I am using, my feeds are available and organized just the way I like them. I’ve been slowly adding feeds to it and I must say its been a pleasure to use.

I upgraded ITunes to the newest version to get support for podcasting. Podcasting is similar to the concept of RSS feeds, instead it is just audio files instead of blog entries. I’ve added a few NPR podcasts and a few local WNYC (NPR station) podcasts. The funny thing is they advertise their podcasts a lot during the shows, but when you actually do it you find out you can only get a feed on one 10-15 minute segment of a long show. The rest you have to go to the site and manually download.
Talk about defeating the purpose!

Thanks Deenport staff and Sheykhs GF Haddad and Muhummad Afifi al-Akiti for this fatwa:
I am really impressed with this fatwa, especially in the light of the fact that the American media is clamoring all over this:
Click Here for CAIR’s Endorsed Fatwa
It’s all over the airwaves here and its positively wimpy in comparison.
Although both fatwas seem to have the same intentions the CAIR fatwa really addresses none of the topics at hand, relies on no scholarly precedents, and in my opinion, opens the doors for a rebuttal with a similar ‘my ayat, my hadith, my interpretation’ approach to fatwas.
This fatwa shared on Deenport lessons really demonstrates the knowledge required of an islamic scholar and automatically commands the respect and authority that a legacy and community of scholarship provides.
Today is the blessed birthday of the Prophet of Islam (sallalahu’alayhi was-salam), there are celebrations throughout the traditional Muslim world.
Muhummad (S) was a man of incredible importance to the world at large. This illiterate orphan (S), has deeply impacted the 1 billion Muslims who are alive today and the billions who have passed before us. Michael H. Hart’s book “The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History” lists him as the number 1 most influential person in history.
A reading of his life story is important for every Muslim and non-Muslim alike.
Humza Yusuf writes about him here.
Pysche of Love has a beautiful entry collecting some of the descriptions of the Prophet (S).
Deenport is offering a download of a Mawlid celebration held at Faraz Rabbani’s house (from SunniPath).
A link to a in-depth description of the Prophet’s (S) speech at Deenport.
