I think as far as a ’scholarly position’ that has basically been what it has been for a long time, they are Muslims but deviated. As far as fighting them, when Persia was rebelling under the control of the authority of the sultan and calipha, the Ottomans did not hesitate to take military actions against their rulers.

Asalamu alaikum,
interesting post.
this makes me wonder.. what was the position of the Ottoman sultans and scholars regarding the Shia?
Did it change over time?

“Yavuz” Sultan Selim Han was the first calipha of the Ottoman Empire. The tomb has much heybet.
I met this caretaker of the tomb in february. He is naqshbandi also, mashAllah.
