Salaams Bhai,
Your words are useful at many levels. Siddique-ul-Akbar (R.A) always amazes us. Rasool (S.A) has told once, "I have paid back for all help I recieved from you people. But I'll not be able to repay for the help I recieved from Abu Bakr. Allah himself should pay it back.". We find that an Abu Bakr does not exist. It is our prophet who is visible in him. Just as our Prophet is the model to follow to attain Allah's good pleasure, Abu Bakr Siddique (R.A) is the model to follow in following the Prophet.

Regarding the words from your Shaykh, I would like to add my Shaykh's words:
"There are 26 alphabets in english. What if 'B says that 'I' is straight and it want to be like him? Then 'B' no longer will be there and only 'I' will remain. What if 'I' say that he is superior to 'B' ? Such a boasting is of no use. Both 'B' and 'I' are required to spell 'BISMILLAH'. Allah will not throw away 'B' because it is not like 'I'. Everything has got its own unique place. And they do justice to themselves only when they conform to their own position".

Without the foot soldiers, Field Marshall is left useless. Just as 'I' is left useless without 'B'.
Indeed this is a very very deep topic. Allah alone can guide us.
Thank you for enlightening me. May Allah bless you and your Shaykh. May Allah help us to serve his Deen. May Allah unite us with His beloved servants.
