As-salamu alaykum sayyidi,

Jazak Allahu khayran, this post was quite nice.

I just want to ask something that I hope doesn't get taken it the wrong way. But do you think it's fair to label Wahhabis "the enemies of the Prophet (S)"? Perhaps you didn't mean that all Salafis are such, but is it not still a bit harsh? What about, for instance, those Salafis who join the Mawlid simply out of love for Sayyiduna Rasul Allah, salla Allahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallama?

Of course, we condemn what many say to demean his blessed rank, or that of his blessed Family, or that of his blessed Friends, salla Allahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallama. However, I think that many Salafis highly esteem and venerate the Beloved, salla Allahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallama, as befits his due right. As such, I don't think it's fair to characterize Salafis as "enemies of the Prophet (S)." After all, they are, like us, people of "la ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad Rasul Allah" salla Allahu `alayhi wa alihi wa sallama.

If I am mistaken or have misunderstood your words, please correct me. May Allah ta`ala reward you abundantly in this month and always. Please also keep me in your prayers.

BismillahirRahmanirRahim
Salamu'alaykum,

Welcome to you on my website alwaysred. Is the word you are looking for "good"? I think there is plenty good about Mawlid

I think those without exposure don't have a good understanding of what is meant by Mawlid.

Setting aside any day to remember the Prophet's birth (S) is a day of Mawlid. For those who love the Prophet (S) it such remembrance is continuous and happens throughout the year. In this month, there are Mawlid programs every weekend when it is convenient, but also there are associations of people remembering the Prophet (S) throughout the year. But also there are Mawlids well after this time period of the anniversary of the Prophet's (S) birth.

The Prophet (S) celebrated Mawlid every Monday by fasting:

It was narrated from Abu Qutaadah al-Ansaari (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about fasting on Mondays. He said, “On that day I was born and on that day the Revelation came to me.” (Narrated by Muslim, 1978)

So the Prophet (S) gave importance to the day of his birth. We who are commemorating Maulid personally fast on Mondays throughout the year, as much as possible, to remember his blessed birth. Since there is no limit to the Salawat we are supposed to send on him (as any scholar should tell you), many people find that fasting plus doing Salawat is good as well to help with remembrance.

I think there is a lot of good in it.

I like the dua. Ameen to the dua.

However, im not convinced for the need for mawlid. If there was a real need for it, why didn't the sahaba do it? Their society was superbly messed up before the Prophet came and made them into an upright community. They should have indeed been the first to commemmorate this if there was something (ican't think of the word:-)) about it.

AA- Yursil,

What a much-needed reminder on the true nature of the Mawlid. But let's not take digs at the various paths that others have taken to realize the love for their beloved, lest the oppressed become the oppressor.

"Alas.. probably doing something is better than nothing… isn’t it?"

Indeed it is.

Assalamu alaikkum wa rahmathullahi wa barakathhu,
Audhu billahi minshaittan nirrajeem,
Bismillah hirrahman nirraheem...
Dear Brother,
Thanks for such a beautiful post. I was actually thinking of writing something about Mawlid which people should know. I would like to add few things, a piece of information about Mawlid Sherif.
Mawild has been practised from Hijri 12th. Our Prophet sal, RAHMATHUL ALAMEEN, he deserves to be praised in all the possible ways we could think of, anthan shamsun antha badhrun....This universe belongs to him and it is just for him allah subhanatala has made everything, if not for him we will not exist. He is the most affectionate person ever lived and will ever come in this universe. His love for his UMMAH has no words to be described.

Arabs are the best poets in the world and there is no language in the world can string the words (adjectives) like a string of pearl then in Arabic language. It is said that people of our prophet sal time and his immediate followers writes poem on prophet sal, praising him in such a way that our prophet sal happily smiles at it. This has been practised for more than 1000 years and in recent times people are saying this is bi'dah. Now its time for those people to think, Would you believe in something that happened over 1000 years or would you believe someone who came in less than 100 years and says all this is bi'dah ASTHOUFIRULLA.

Insha allah, May Allah subhanatala make our Eman, Ehsan and Taqwa very strong.
May Allah subahanatala guide us all in the right path and protect us from the cursed shaytan.
Al-Fatiha.
