The great saint Imam Kusyeri said about the necessity of the Murshid thus:

“When the person who is looking for Haqq, cannot find a Murshid near his homeland, he must go to the Murshid of the time who is responisble for irshad (enlightenment, guiding) and he must emigrate there. He must stay there until he is trained and educated, he must not leave there unless the Murshid gives permission” - Kusheyri, Risale, II 742

Supporting and loving the Arif (saint) who is on a path of taqwa, is a part of Iman.

“Who goes near to a Imam who is on the path of Allah, for supporting and exalting him, that person is under Allah’s protection, Allah gives him the merit of difficulties which he will tolerate for the sake of it”
