Selam Aleykum dear brother.

I am amazed with the research that you have done on this subjects. It has been an obsession of mine lately the ottoman history and the ottoman sultans. It is very sad to see a perverted propaganda in the internet regarding the ottoman caliphs. We Muslims are partly guilty about this and it is time to correct this injustices.
Regarding the wikipedia article about ottoman sultans, you should consider rewriting the article as soon as possible as I can see you have researched this field and have sound references The wikipedia articles can be easily modified by anyone as long as you cite your work and use other works as references. It is sad to see that no one takes up the work to clean up the injustice done to the Islamic history in general, by the wikipedia articles which anyone can edit but unfortunately are used extensively as a portal to and a way to know Islam and Islamic history.

What I would like to know is more about the women behind the sultans. Not only about the main one, but about the rest, who pass almost like they didn't exist. Didn't they do something at least a bit important?

A very good article. I am currently translating a book from Arabic to English which deals with the Ottoman Empire (Atlas of Islamic Conquests), in the course of which I have done some research on the internet. I have also noticed a number of unsupported claims about the Ottoman rulers, including the claim that Mehmed II was a paedophile with a predilection for young boys! Subhan Allah! The man who conquered Constantinople, of whom the Prophet (Sall Allahu 'Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "Verily, Constantinople shall be conquered, its commander shall be the best commander ever and his army shall be the best army ever”. I think an additional reason for the lack of Muslim interest in correcting these falsehoods lies in the fact that, in my experience, many Arabs remember Ottoman rule with dislike (indeed, shame) and are themselves guilty of making up stories about the Ottomans. When I lived in Madinah, I read a book (in English) written by a Saudi (not an Islamic scholar) who claimed that the Arabs were forced to collaborate with the British against the Ottomans due to the "fact" that the Ottomans were planning to deport the whole populations of Makkah and Madinah to Turkey and replace them with Turks! In addition, once Saudi Arabia became wealthy, they set about eradicating much of the evidence of Ottoman rule.

I am from Edirne, where Selimiye Mosque is, the mosqu has many secrets. The mosque is owned by Resulullah SAS. Sultan Selim was ordered by Resulullah to build the Mosqu from the money he got from invasion of Cyprus. Resulullah ordered "Bulid the mosque in Edirne where my flag is and come under my flag." The dream was repeated a number of times and the comander that invaded Cyprus also has seen Resullullah and ordered to take all of the money from Cyprus to Sultan for the mosque. Resulullha then has shown the place of the mosque, it is the only building that is built on a rock foundation. Entire area stands ona one piece rock. When the mosque has finished the Sultan Selim has seen Resulullah SAS i his dream, Resulullah has said to him "The mosque has finished, come to Edirne for th Friday prayer under my flag". Sultan Selim woke up next morning and departed for Edirne and died on the way. He was fulfiling the dream when he died. He must be drank but drank of Resulullah SAS. He was drank with the love of Resulullah SAS. The mosqu today has many misteries. Resulullah also ordered other sultans to look after Edirne rather then Istnabul and many times he said "Edirne is my city and my flag is in Edirne." The mosque gate is built according to temple of Suleyman AS and on both sides it had Davus AS's symbols. Mehdi specific secrets are in this mosque.
Sari Saltuk was also ordered by Resulullah in around 1300's to invade Edirne, Resulullah SAS said, do not leave it in enemy hands, Edirne is the maqam of help. Sari Saltuk has invaded Edirne and lived there 40 years. Sari Saltuk has received Osman Bey in Edirne and gave him Green Belt. Although Sari Saltuk has many maqams, his real grave is said to be in Dobruca but his real grave is in Edirne. I also had a dream, Sari Saltuk has said, I would never leave Edirne, I was sent for Edirne, I am in Edirne waiting for Mehdi AS. When Istanbul was being invaded Fatih Sultan Mehmed had a dream, he has seen Sari Saltuk, he has given the key to Istanbul, but he said to him, the key will stay with me in Edirne. After this Satukname was written to honour him.

There are many secrets in the city of Resulullah and the Mosque of Edirne. Resulullah has declared ths mosque his mosque and said many times to different people that his flag was based in Edirne. Sultan Selim was a beloved Caliph of Resulullah and built the Mosque on his orders. It is ironic that not many people are aware of those realities. It is absolutely unbeliavable.

This is such a great event, Caliph of Resulullah is deciding to built the greatest mosque ever and he wants to build this in Istanbul but Resulullah goes into his dreams many times ordering him to build it in Edirne rather then in Istanbul, he says my falg is in Edirne, and he also sends Sari Saltuk much before, ironically Istanbul was invaded from Edirne.

This event is just ignored even in Turkey now. How can abyone ignore this true event, written in officila Ottoman History and still claim that they are sunnis. How can one be Sunni and insult such a caliph. Sultan Selim was a man of heartm he was from awliya, he was drank with love of Resulullah and love of Allah. If he was not why would he spend such great amount of money on a mosque and also build it in Edirne rather then Istanbul.

Iriving, thank you for your comment!

James, interesting insight, I agree it will be interesting to see what emerges. I think that the Ottoman case will be one of the major revisions, in terms of sheer change (as you noted: to the more accurate side) that may have occurred in the past 100 years.

Selim II is getting a reevaluation. Nothing like going to the first hand sources. The tale of the drunkard nere-do-well son who followed Suleiman the Magnificent is being replaced by a more accurate portrait.

Well, it had to happen sooner or later. Nothing last forever not even the past. Revisionism is a major discipline in History. With the new Islamist government in Ankara, the old Kemalist bromides had to fall by the wayside. The new government order has an interest in re-imaging the Ottoman past.

It will be interesting to see what emerges from the source material. Some myths will fall by the wayside, some tall tails will disappear. But new stories will take there place, better stories as they will have facts behind them,

This is a really wonderful article, and once again proves that history is written by the winners, or suppressed by them at the least. History is a foil of politics and religion both, but Allah knows the truth.
