The first HD video of Zikr, and possibly the first Islamic HD video available online.
In this video Clyde Bellecourt, 71 and a famous Native American activist, joins the prayer circle and participates with his own traditions. His Ojibwe name is Nee-gon-we-way-we-dun which means “Thunder Before the Storm.” He is moved to tears after being presented with a Turban and Jubbah.

Thanks, MR !!!
MR, thanks for the link but what makes that HD? is it 720p?
[...] Posted by Aaminah under Interfaith , Islam , Native Stuff , Suluk Yursil has posted video of the Prayer Vigil last weekend in DC. You can watch the regular video, or he has a link to an outstanding High [...]
Good question Yursil. I honestly don’t know, but I think you may have the first HD Islamic video on the net. DivX is better than Google VIdeo and YouTube, but I don’t think its 720p or even 1024 HD.
Try uploading the video to Stage6 and compare it.
hahaha the Native American guy got to wear the thoub and turban! MashaAllah!
InshaAllah the Native American brother comes to Islam. Ameen!

Salamu’alaykum,
The video I uploaded is true 720p HD on Vimeo, the first to support flash based HD.
That is not a Native American “guy”, that is Clyde Bellecourt:
Clyde occupied the Bureau of Indian Affairs Building in Washington, D.C. and participated in the 71-day occupation of Wounded Knee in 1973. Clyde was the first American Indian to address the World Council of Church’s at Montruax, Switzerland, Dec. 1974.
Beaten, arrested and shot; lobbied presidents, senators and local politicians; participated in sacred Anishinabe and Lakota ceremonies, Clyde has devoted his life to create a better way of life for those he loves most: American Indian youth, adults, elders and all people who are impacted by the disparities that exist in the political, economic, criminal justice, environmental and educational institutional systems that govern our communities.

The Native American faiths are very similar to Islam already, accepting Muhummad (Sallalahu’alaiheewassalam) as a Prophet is Shaykhs highest condition when speaking of people of other traditions.
istighfirallah. this is not halal. did the prophet saw or his comanions ever do this?no.so what good is when anyone else does it ,no matter what is being said. if it was good the prophet saw and his companions would have preceded you in doing it.
BismillahirRahmanirRaheem
Salamu’alaikum,
The Prophet (Salallahu’alaiheewassalam) did exactly this, and definately the Companions did exactly this.

Thank you! So beautiful — and way to re-live a wonderful part of the Prayer Vigil.
namaste, Georgiana
the video is pretty cool but i couldn’t stop laughing when the native american started blowing the whistle…lol
Amer, the whistle Mr. Bellecourt is using is probably an eagle bone whistle, it’s a very holy thing and used in ceremonies and prayer. I understand it may seem a little odd to folks from other traditions but it’s very meaningful to native peoples; it gave me chills watching this, seeing these elders from different traditions showing such respect for each other’s ways.
Thank you for sharing this video, Yursil!
As-salamu ‘alaykum,
