I need your help with something. In this comments thread, I have to deal with a rather misguided young man who made the following statement:
I would be just as apt to say a Sunni-to-Shiite Muslim was as circumscribed in his fate as Kenneth in in his short-ranging [Eastern Rite to Western Rite -- Ken] tour of Catholicism.
Now, I’m not a Muslim, but as I recall the transition between Sunni and Shiite is one heck of a vast gulf…certainly not the short little hope that this clueless young man thinks it is. Can you render some enlightenment here?
This is the first time I am visiting your blog. It is interesting how much stuff you are finding at the dergaha.
I have been there a few times. That machinery hut is the masjeed and the house is where Abd al-Kerem is.
I’m sure you dont remember me, but I was there last Ramadan trying to figure some stuff out and seeking some kind of meaning to “what am I doing here?”
I’m glad you can make the stuff availeable for us, the people who cant make the discipline of the dergaha, at least some access.
I like the Ma’arifa site where you are linking discourse. It is a very sharp sword.
I have worked on sites before, and I know that it is a lot of work, and perhaps you are not getting too many hits. But that is not important as much as serving the Shaykh.
Blogs and websites will come and go, but the duty to Rasoolallaah(sal) is a thing that will last forever if intended rightly.
As you administer your site, be careful not to add too many things. It may distract the goal.
Said in hadith: “we even ignored 9 of 10 of the good things, for fear of doing even one good thing with the wrong intention.”
So I would say that like this; just because it can be done, doesnt mean that it should be done. It is possible to lust after knowledge. This is nafs ilham, and nafs himma, inspiration and striving.
Yet above that is the tamin, mutmayna nafs. A quiet place where there is ridwan and marawdiyya. You are still, and He is still. That is a blessed place.
I have seen with my own eyes that Shaykh Kerem reaches that, and also Grandshaykh (QS).
They sit quietly, and that is real suhbat. They just wait and in that waiting is a great blessing.
I hope you also reach to that as well.
That is a secret that you will never be able to blog. It will be enough if you yourself catch this, and dont worry about others.
Most people are waiting for some excitement from the Shaykh, and that is an uncomforteable place. If you are looking for amara, like an amir, and the Shaykh has only ridwan, it will be difficult, and it will stay difficult week after week as he bombards that iintention.
So here is just so much naziyat, and probably you dont care, but I am visiting your site and some of the things there are very good.
I hope that is some comfort to you, as I know Shaykh is driving you like foot soldiers, never stopping, and never sleeping if you do as he asks.

HOP, not HOPE, is what I meant to write in that last sentence.
