Thanks to the work of the Muslim Literary Society in organizing this publication and thanks to the spectacular translation capability of Sheykh Muhtar Holland, I am very pleased to present 82 pages of the “Attributes of the Believers” by Sheykh Ahmad Fathullah Jami, who is already widely recognized for his tafsir “Call to the Believers in the Clear Quran”, published by Al-Baz Publishing.

In “The Attributes of the Believers”, Sheykh Jami demonstrates the deep unison of traditional spiritual teachings about improving ones character with the Quran al-Karim. Within this text, one finds copious Quranic examples and explanations towards the importance of each attribute of perfect character.

I found that my reading of this text was greatly benefited by understanding it with awareness of the character of my Sheykh. With each example, the reader may find numerous opportunities to reflect on how these qualities are present within those we consider Wali’s as living realities and not merely in theory. As a means to further increase our appreciation of the discipline of those who have reached high stations, this book is invaluable.

Sheykh Jami states:

It is therefore incumbent on the intelligent person to model himself on the characteristics of the Prophets and the saints, and to conduct himself in accordance with their exemplary patterns of behaviour.

This free release of the “The Attributes of the Believers” represents the type of work and quality we can continue to expect by the Muslim Literary Society. The release of this text demonstrates the importance the Muslim Literary Society puts towards translating important traditional texts and modern day texts by Sheykhs on the traditional path.
