Osmanli Naksibendi Zikr

Some pictures were taken during Sohobet and Zikr in Manhattan. After sohobet we dim the lights, usually leaving one red light on.

Is there a significance to the red light?

  2. yursil

its a good light which keeps the place somewhat lit but also allow concentration, if there is a further significance Shaykh knows and I do not.

    Asalaamu alaikum.

LOL, ATA asked exactly what I was gonna ask. I’m still learning obviously and there are alot of symbolic things that I’m just clueless of.

This is off-topic, but I was wondering Sidi Yursil if Shaykh Abdul Kerim takes murids only from those in his local vicinity or also from those at a distance who are willing to keep in contact with him? Maybe you could do a post on something like this.

    as-salamu’alaikum Isa,

I don’t think I have enough content for a real post on the subject

But yes, we have fellow mureeds of Shaykh Abdul Kerim in Brazil and even as far as China, so Shaykh indeed accepts initiation from those who are far away.

Usually they keep in touch via phone. Spiritual progress is generally independant of location, however, it is better to visit if and when possible and spend time with Shaykh at the dergah where you get to rid oneself of certain dunya baggage.

Shah Naqshiband said “Our way is association.” So much progress for oneself is made when in contact through whatever means available.
