That was an excellent chat! masha’allah ta baraka’allah! I noted that the shaykh made some important points. For example, he said that Allah created man to serve Him and that the 21st century man is serving his own ego, therefore putting himself as a rival to Allah subhana wa ta ‘ala, committing an terrible act of shirk.
He also explained that al-shahaada unifies his Creation, man, and moves him toward fulfilling his purpose. Yet the mushahid has a great enemy in shaitan, who has vowed to cause the mushahid to abandon the shahaada.
In conclusion, what I understood all of this to be is an excellent argument in support of the benefits of dhikr! Not a mechanical dhikr of repitition but a sincere and continuous; contemplation and rememberance of Allah’azza wa jal.
