  1. Is Dergah sort of equivalent to a Zawiya? Out here, a Dargah usually means the buildings and associated structures built around the final resting place of a notable scholar.

  2. salaams,

Yes indeed, just like a Zawiya. I think we use the term Mazar for what you use Dargah for!

  3. BismillahirRahmanirRahim,

My Salaams to Sheykh, Hoca, and all the mureeds at dergah! Missing you guys too much! Cute puppy, Mash’Allah. May Allah bless our Sheykh, and all of you, and grant me patience, Ameen, for the sake of our Sheykh.

    Allah emanat ol,

    Biz Osmanliyiz! Pek Sanliyiz!

  4. Okay. I noticed the use of the term Dergah a couple of times on your blog and have wondered what you meant. :)

    Do you speak Turkish BTW?

  5. I’ve been learning Turkish on the side, as well as just from exposure to Shaykh. I speak English and Urdu. There are many commonalities between Turkish and Urdu, which makes it easier for me

  6. Salaam ‘alaykum,

Great smiling people & adorable animals! :)

    Warmly,
    Baraka
