The British are not known for passionate works of the subject of the Passion.  In earlier works, there is reverance for the subject but the colors are muted and bland.  Not like the Italians with their vibrant colors and stong dark/light contrast.  But after the Enlightenment, the Passion painting loses all meaning.  By the 20th century, artists like Salvador Dali mock the Passion as a psychological construct.</description>
